REFUGEES, ASYLUM AND TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS

If you are persecuted in your homeland, either because of your nationality, race, origin, religion, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion you may be admitted to the United States under refugee status and get either asylum or temporary protection status (TPS).

Asylum

Apply for an asylum if you want to pave a way to permanent residency (LPR) status in the future.

TPS

Apply for TPS if you believe that your asylum application may be denied and you are a resident of the following countries :
